I’m Ba-a-a-a-ack

View from the cable car up to Masada

OK, I wish I could say I’m refreshed after 2 weeks of a restful vacation, but really I’m just jet lagged. I did spend a wonderful 2 weeks in Israel with Jan, my mom, my brother, sister-in-law and nieces, and of all the great stuff, I think the company was the best part. Yes, there were the usual vacation glitches, in our case involving a (my) stolen computer (the day before our flight), a missed connecting flight (my brother and his family), a day in the hospital (for my mom because of the heat and dehydration), messed up hotel reservations, a lost hearing aid and so forth, but none of that really spoiled anything . . . which shows, I guess, that rolling with the punches helps, and that a lot depends on who your traveling companions are.

There was also a horse farm, a wine tasting in Galilee, walking the old city with my niece Elaine and trying to engage people in 3 languages, 3000 years of archeology to see, getting together with the Israeli branch of the family . . . . It was good.

I got to read The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate on the plane, and it was wonderful. I’ll talk about it next post. In the meantime, a couple of family photos.
